Maintenance of a Solar Electric System
Well basically there is none. They just sit there on the roof and produce electricity when daylight is available.
The only component in the system that needs looking after is the inverter. This should be checked every now and then to make sure
it is working ok, and also that there is no dust or debris on the heatsink on top of the inverter.
If a system is mounted on a flat roof, and the system is between flat and
15 degrees then the panels may need to be checked periodically to make sure leaves or dirt has not built up on them. For most installations which are on a pitched roof, the angle is
sufficient that the array will self-clean with the rain.
As with any electrical system, the
standard of installation should be maintained to the electrical regulations.
